Iraq has banned U.S. user-generated videogame platform Roblox due to concerns over child abuse, the government said, joining other countries in cracking down on virtual worlds.

Experts warn Roblox has a predator problem, amid reports Australian children are being exposed to a range of disturbing experiences on the platform.

A Camden County mother is suing Roblox and Discord, saying her daughter was sexually exploited while using the platforms. The lawsuit says the 11-year-old girl, who is now 14, was targeted by a male predator on Roblox who posed as a young boy in October 2022.

Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman says the online gaming platform Roblox has become a “playground for predators.”

Australia's eSafety commissioner says her team has "taken Roblox to task" over its risk of exposing children to harm but warned the online gaming platform may not be included in the upcoming social media ban.
